Am I A Real Runner? Why Every Pace Has A Place

Is that a question that I wonder all the time – I’m a real runner? Because in a world of strange statistics and correctioners of correct (we call ‘runfluence’) is almost impossible to not be compared. And that lets you feel like you are now near to the criteria of what should be a runner.

I’m running for 9 years now. And in that time I went to be a novice running 5k, 10k, and half marathon, and last year brought me a multi-day event. Now run regularly 3 times a week and I am a bowl of oversized for my local running group.

And still despite all, all those who are woken up regularly I am a true corridator!

I know that I’m not just in feeling like that. It’s a question that many people, often women, if they are hanging and that’s why I want to look in the mind to run in a little more detail. On top, I have to share as squash those negative patterns and things I do to feel more like a runner.

What it means being a runner

Right, let’s break this, do the super plain. If you run, you are a runner. Right? In the most basic of terms that is what defines a runner – someone running.

The problem is not as simple.

We are soon compared to others and fasten the settings around what we think a corridor needs to be. It could be running a certain distance, a particular speed, or maybe also based on expectations of how a “real” runner is to look.

And if we do not have the stereotypical speaking image, swelling and navated light we see on Social Media is not surprise that we are quite query.?

I don’t in this stereotype. I am not fast, my body form doesn’t look run, I have a very strange run, and I still have to force yourself in a race. However, that’s. A corridor. Someone running.

Here are some of the things I do to stop the negative chat and kept me in the function constantly in the last 9 years:

Dress the part

Even when you feel like an abstant abstant, if dressing as a runner, you feel like a runner. And for me, it’s Lycra leggings and a women’s hood with a slogan that creates that change in mind.

And the one that sums perfectly. No matter how slow, if you need to stop every hour and again and walk for a little, or even if it’s super speed. Either each of you who are out that you spend floors in the road shoes or blame the trails in your waterfalls in water, you are all the runners. And don’t leave anyone (including yourself!) Say something different.

If I feel ‘Meh’ on my running, put something that makes me feel good, as this hood eg is sometimes I have to have the most of the door. And that’s what’s all about really. Small actions to make you feel good about yourself.

Change the narrative

If you are interrugated I am a real runner, likely means you need a change in mind. And you have to change the narrative if you want to create a healthy relationship with current.

While there is no doubt we have influenced us by what we see online, so what we tell us about us can’t execute so deeper than. A really useful phrases that I like to repeat myself when I get in this negative boss is “my thoughts aren’t done ‘. This helps the earth and rationalize the thoughts that may pick up in uninvitity.

Here are some other changes you can do to help renew your thoughts:

  • Change – “I have finished in the last place ‘
  • At – “I’ve finished strong ‘
  • Change – “People can laugh at me ‘
  • At – “People are in fear of me ‘
  • Change – “If I need to stop and walk, I have to be wrong.”
  • At – “Listen to my body and do what it needs’
  • Change – ‘I’m too slow’
  • At – ‘Every step has a place’

Everything is to have a positive mental attitude. Believing in yourself. Go out and do. And knowing that all you do, that will always be enough.

Stop comparison

I often find myself in a comparison spiral. Where they are not just comparing to what others do, but they also see in the back of “past” achievements. I know it’s not healthy and still I don’t think of me to stop me. When it happens this knows there is a single thing for it. I stop recording my running and exit all tracking apps. This means I am no longer able to compare against what the beat and distance of others do because I can’t see their runs. But more important, it means I can also not see you back and compare against my own run.

Because the thing is every run is single. How do you feel and run a day has never been the same as when you do another day. And is certainly never be the same as someone else runs that run. We need to get away from stats, obsessed obsession on numbers and instead of celebrating each we are doing.

There are so many factors that can effect what strong – sleep not, did not eat, not the month, light, it’s too hot – the listing. What matters more than anything else is that goes out and you like. Sure you may not necessarily more than the way; The hills are never done well) but if they end up running with a smile on your smile on the world and feeling that you win.

Pose the guilt

If you don’t feel about running a day, it’s simple … don’t go. There is no set of when and how often you should run. Not unless you are training for something and then you should deffo stick to training plan! But otherwise you have 100% listen to what your body tells you.

Tune in how physically feel, mentally, and emotionally when you ride. These are the best markers of your progress, not the stats. I deal in running as a chance to create any leader. A time to acknowledge with myself, to process the thoughts and deal with any tired or difficult emotions. Sometimes Cums to run, sometimes I come with my most creative ideas, sometimes are in full manner (those who are often my fastest!). But no matter what goes by, I always finish my race feel better and my cutest head.

The days of rest are just as important as the run days and must always be done in training plans. Taking a rest doesn’t mean you have failed, if something brand you stronger. And even if you need to walk during your race, it’s ok. The most Ultra Reacher, walk the hills and run the flats, so you are in a very good company if you need to walk every hour and again.
