After vacation, it may be tempting to jump into a harsh “cleanse.” Please remember that the body is incredibly smart and detoxifies all the time! Sometimes it just needs a little extra support.
This time of year, I personally like to focus on targeted supplements and foods for liver health. These help in the body’s natural detoxification processes without any drastic measures.
After an incredibly social and busy period, my focus is also on realigning my goals, settling into a balanced routine and making time to do activities that make me feel really good.
I’ve put together my top tips for supporting yourself this new year, plus one of my favorite recipes!

Tips for a new year supported:
- Setting realistic goals: Write down your top priorities for the year and break them down into small, achievable steps. I like to make a vision board to stay inspired.
- Be kind to yourself: When you get back into a routine, celebrate your small victories. Aim for progress over perfection. This year, choose to support yourself with sustainable, long-lasting healthy habits.
- Practice mindfulness daily: Incorporate meditation, journaling, or mindful breathing to center yourself after a very social period. Try the JSHealth app for free meditations and guided breathing exercises!
- Limit screen time: Make space for mental clarity by taking regular digital detox breaks. I like to delete my apps over the weekend and aim to turn off social media by 8pm every night.
- Support Liver Health Naturally: After a season of indulgence, incorporate foods like leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, and citrus fruits to aid your body’s natural detoxification processes. Consider targeted supplements containing milk thistle or fennel seeds (consult your health practitioner first) for targeted support.
- Stay hydrated: Start your day with a cup of warm water and lemon to start the digestion process. Enjoy your coffee after your first meal to reduce your body’s stress response and stick to the JSHalth method – no more than 1-2 coffees before midday!
- Prioritize movement you enjoy: Whether it’s yoga, Pilates, walking, or working out from home, choose the types of exercise that make you feel good. Try our collection of action videos (some as little as 10 minutes long) on the app.
- Fuel with balanced meals: I feel my best when I feed myself a balanced diet. Incorporate lean proteins, healthy fats, colorful vegetables, and whole-grain carbohydrates to maintain energy levels. Balance is key.
- Practice gratitude: Write down three things you are grateful for every day to change your perspective.
- Create a self-care ritual: Make time for activities that bring you joy, such as reading, swimming, playing with your children, or spending time in nature. The “little things” make the difference.
